Terms & Conditions
These Terms & Conditions apply to all work carried out by EnglishCzechTranslation (ECT) and cannot be varied unless specifically agreed with a client in writing.
The Terms & Conditions will be interpreted in accordance with English law, to which both the client and ECT agree to submit in the event of any dispute.
1) Quotations
To receive a quote, a client has to provide the following:
· Nature of the text and intended target audience
· Source and target language
· Word count
· Format of the source document
· Delivery format
· Delivery deadline
Quotations issued by ECT are free of charge and are valid for 30 days.
2) Rates
The translation rates are calculated per 1000 words of the source text.
The minimum charge of £10.00 applies.
ECT must receive a Purchase Order from the Client together with acceptance of Terms & Conditions prior to commencing any work.
If the text, once supplied to ECT, is significantly different from any sample or description supplied by the client, ECT reserves the right to vary its price accordingly. In such circumstances ECT must contact the client to obtain agreement before work is carried out at any new price.
3) Delays and Cancellations
If ECT fails to meet the agreed deadlines for reasons beyond its control (such as natural disasters, acts of war or terrorism or ill health) the client shall be entitled to cancel the contract.
If the client cancels translation work after it has been commissioned they will be liable to pay for all the work completed up to that date on a pro-rata basis. If the client cancels less than 24 hours before the delivery deadline then they will be obliged to pay the full fee.
4) Confidentiality
ECT will treat all work with complete confidentiality.
5) Copyright
If the copyright is to be assigned to the Client, it will be only assigned when full payment for the translation has been received by ECT. Until such time, the copyright shall remain with ECT.
ECT accepts source documents in good faith on the grounds that the client has full rights to the text. The client remains liable for any damages or legal action taken by a third party for breach of copyright.
6) Payment
Unless agreed with the client otherwise, full payment is due within 30 days of the invoice date. The payment can be made by cheque, bank transfer, cash or online via PayPal or Moneybookers. Interest should be payable on overdue accounts at the rate of 3% per month.
7) Complaints
Any complaints about ECT's work should be submitted within 14 days of receipt of completed work. Lodging a complaint shall not release the client from obligation to pay.
